刻 the cut bench
Twelve engravings, each cut by a small program from one number, its seed. The same seed always cuts the same plate, byte for byte. Recut a plate to run the next seed: the block stays, the hand moves, and the grain, hatch and stipple fall differently.

a crouched tiger carved into a wind-cut crag
砚池 the inkstone pool
a dark inkstone pool with grind swirls and a resting brush
鹿鸣 the deer calls
a stag calling upward between slender trunks
石灯 the stone lantern
a roofed garden lantern rooted in moss
火山 the volcano
a dark paper cone with one cinnabar ember at its mouth and a rising stippled plume of ash
